| ABOUT JAKE ENGLE
CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional
The smartest people fashion their own lives using the best ideas from people whom they respect. They have great respect for teachers, mentors, and unbiased peer-reviewed research that can help them along the way. If this sounds like you, then Wealth Planning & Management may be a good addition to your life.
We model our business after Rick Steves' Europe Tours business. We escort our clients on a custom tour through financial markets worldwide, and we are their relentlessly positive optimistic advocates and helpers on the journey. (And like the Europe tours, we have a "no grumps" clientele. We are pleasant people who work best with optimistic clients.)
At Wealth Planning & Management, we work to get results for you through the strengths of the best minds in independent financial planning and academic research. We provide friendly, private personal service as we work to handle complicated concepts on your behalf.
Just as you don’t work alone, neither do we. We can access a team of specialists in each aspect of planning. We maintain friendships with many of the best independent financial planners and investment advisors throughout America. We can consult with these experts, without even revealing our client's name -- thus protecting your privacy.

Life Planning provides the missing pieces
Life Planning is such a big part of what we do at Wealth Planning & Management that we’ve dedicated time to studying the methods of the brightest minds in this type of planning. We have studied with and spent time with George Kinder, a thought leader in this field.
We will also go beyond “just the numbers”, helping you with the Big Questions we all ask ourselves such as “What really makes me the happiest?” When you determine the answers to life’s Big Questions and can share those answers with us, then we move into a new dimension of collaboration. You help design your own Life Plan, with your own answers. And since the answers come from you, the Plan usually works better.
Simply stated, Jake Engle, founder of Wealth Planning & Management, believes in helping clients come to know their own goals and life more clearly. “All of us benefit from self examination and can learn from the things that don’t go perfectly the first time we attempt them,” he says. “Everyone makes financial mistakes, even Bill Gates and Warren Buffett. The key is to learn from our miscues, and focus on the positive. We can help you do just that.”
In other words, we have the intelligence and conviction to be proactively patient when it comes to helping you participate in capitalism. We have some of the best professors and researchers in the world on our team in terms of the investments that we recommend – some have even won Nobel Prizes for their research.
We only work with no-load, low-cost investment companies, and you can choose between similar products from multiple providers such as Dimensional (DFA) Funds, Vanguard and others. In other words, our independence is a source of our strength. Our independence also gives you freedom.
Personalized private service is provided by Jake Engle, a long-time financial planner and investment advisor. Still, Jake is the first to say:
“While I’m confident in my abilities, many of ‘my’ great ideas come from the best minds in the world."
Where we’ve been, what we love
As an internationalist, Jake Engle is a fan of the world’s best ideas. He inherited his love of investing, culture and travel from his parents and grandparents, and all of them worked their way through college. Just like his ancestors, Jake has traveled the world – in fact he’s visited all 50 states. “This experience benefits my clients,” says Jake. “I’m proud to bring back the knowledge I acquire as I learn and refine my perspective on international investing – a strategy I encourage for all clients.”
Jake has been a part of three small businesses. He’s very aware that the term “small business” basically means “everything but the S& P 500” – meaning that some very successful businesses are labeled as “small cap businesses.”
Come to think of it, ALL of us own a “small cap business” known as My Personal Finances, Inc. In other words, everyone has similar concerns in terms of tax reduction, investing for the future and life planning – whether they have $30 million or something less than that to save and direct.
Jake has been fortunate to have worked with clients who run businesses in the worlds of law, medicine and technology, as well as with folks who have retired. During the course of his 20-year career in the financial services industry, Jake estimates he's had over 10,000 client meetings.
“Financial Planning is not just my career, it’s one of my great loves in life." says Jake.
In addition, Jake loves skiing, hiking, biking and traveling “the Rick Steves’ way.” Curious? Check it out at the travel website at: www.ricksteves.com.
Jake earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from St. Louis University. After graduation, he completed the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) program through The American College in Pennsylvania. He also earned the CFP® mark of distinction and is authorized as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™.professional. He's a graduate of the FPA Residency program at the University of California.
In addition, Jake has passed the same National Association of Securities Dealer’s (NASD) exams and insurance licensing exams that stock brokers and insurance agents take to be qualified in some states. His firm is a Registered Investment Advisor. His CFP mark and RIA status require that he act as a fiduciary to his clients – and, of course, Jake wouldn’t have it any other way. “Putting my clients’ interests first is just something I naturally do,” Jake says. “The fact that there are laws telling me that I should do just that simply validates that I’ve been doing it right all along.”
A lifelong learner, Jake completed the coursework to earn the professional designation Chartered Advisor in Senior Living from The American College. "My own parents are senior citizens as are a few of my clients, so I'm very familiar with the issues we face as we move through life. In fact, I believe that the only solution for the challenges of this world is education.”
